As the voice behind the “Business of Being Online” podcast, I’m aiming to dive deep into what it means to craft and nurture an online identity through creative expression. This platform is an extension of my journey and the lessons I’ve learned in navigating the world of online business.
Whether you’re bogged down by the significance of embarking on new projects or you’re playing with the transformative power of embracing change, each episode is a testament to the belief that starting somewhere—anywhere—is the first step toward making a meaningful impact online.
Through sharing my experiences, I aim to inspire others to take that leap, however daunting it may seem, and discover the endless possibilities that await you in online business.
Throwback to 2020, I was juggling both nail services and digital marketing, right up until the world turned upside down with the pandemic. That’s when I made the full pivot to focusing solely on the online business world.
This transition was more than just a shift in my career path; it became a profound journey of creativity and self-discovery. Looking back on the personal growth, journey toward worthiness, and the ever-turning cycle of creativity is nauseating. It wasn’t just about changing what I did for a living; it was about evolving who I was and how I expressed myself online and offline.
Working online while navigating the cycle of creativity can be a real trip, especially with a trauma history. Thanks to the Creative Fire by Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes, I’ve come to see it as a reflection of the life-death-life cycle, much like the myth of Demeter and Persephone.
This cycle, where growth and decline are natural and necessary phases, mirrors the seasons of creativity. Starting without a clear end goal represents the spring, a time of new beginnings and potential. The challenges of not being in a season of creation in the digital space can feel like the winter, a period of introspection and often (for me) doubt.
Yet, just as Persephone’s return from the underworld signals renewal, each creative endeavor we embark upon, regardless of its outcome, contributes to our growth and reemergence. It’s through embracing this cycle, accepting the ebb and flow of our creative expressions, that we find the courage to share our work and ourselves online.
Re-entering the digital space is all about embracing the journey without overthinking. The key is to lean into the process, allowing your authentic voice to guide you.
Begin with manageable tasks to avoid feeling overwhelmed. Follow through is key to building momentum and presence.
Interact genuinely with your audience. Authentic engagement builds stronger connections and fosters community. Finding your people online is what it’s all about!
Nothing spells inspiration quite like giving yourself a digital facelift! Refresh your profiles to reflect your current skills, experiences, and objectives.
Emphasize what makes you unique. Your personal story and perspective can set you apart in a seemingly crowded world.
For those navigating this path, I offer two distinct services tailored to different needs: the “done for you” service, where I take the reins and manage your online presence end-to-end, and the “scripts strategy” service, designed for those seeking guidance and strategies to implement themselves. Each caters to where you are in your journey, providing the support to express yourself online confidently.
It’s in the decisions we make every day—what to create, how to share, and when to pivot—that the essence of our creative work shines brightest. I encourage you to embrace your creative endeavors with trust even when you can’t see what lies ahead for you. May we all continue moving forward, exploring, and reinventing what it means to be online, together.
