Guess who’s back in the creative saddle? Yep, it’s me. I’ve got a fresh episode of the Business of Being Online podcast for you! We’re exploring the latest and greatest AI shenanigans and a few of my personal life updates (because you can’t have one without the other 💁♀️).
So, have you noticed the trend of folks asking ChatGPT to roast their Instagram feeds? It’s everywhere, and honestly, I’m not here for it.
Don’t get me wrong – I love a good laugh, but there’s something about inviting an AI to tear apart our creative expressions that doesn’t sit right with me. Maybe it’s because I’ve spent too long battling self-doubt, but I believe the power of AI would be best used to build ourselves up, not tear us down.
This got me thinking about how the way we use AI reflects how we see ourselves. Are we using it as a tool for growth and expansion?
Speaking of expansion, let’s talk about a trend I thought was fun and more rooted in love – using ChatGPT for manifestation!
People are spilling their dreams to the chatbot AI and asking for a “day in the life” vision in return. I gave it a whirl with some of my January journaling (because who doesn’t love a mid-September check-in?), and while it didn’t nail every detail, it was pretty fun!
What felt particularly fun was having the chatbot read the entry aloud when I was done, it felt a little different then just writing the vision of what’s possible on my own.
Now, onto the juicy stuff – your girl decided to dip her toes back into the dating pool. After a year of nursing wounds from a three-month situationship (oh, the drama!), I crafted what I thought was a masterpiece of a dating app bio. Picture this: references to Canadian geese fears, hot girl walks, and a dash of hedonism. Classic me, right?
But here’s where it gets interesting. I turned to my AI bestie (sorry, Alexa) to help me finesse this novel of a bio into something that would actually fit on Bumble. ChatGPT not only helped me condense it but also reassured me that my quirkiness was, in fact, endearing.
I didn’t stay on the app long enough to learn if my bio caught any keepers but it was a fun and fresh experiment!
This whole experience got me thinking about the power of being seen. Recently, I got a mullet/shag/wolf cut (new hair, who dis?), and riding that “new me” high, I even braved a karaoke night at a local spot
Spoiler alert: I didn’t sing, but there was much to process after I made it home by 11pm. I met a fellow gay in the wild! Not an everyday occurence where I live probably cause I don’t leave the house to be fair! He was a bartender with a matching mullet (universe winking at me much?) and had a guy ask me if there was anything I didn’t do when I told him about my work and hobbies. Talk about being seen!
These experiences – of being seen whether by AI, folks consuming our content or real-life humans in the wild – are all about expanding our sense of self. When we are seen we are expanded!
My Top Audio Picks rn:
The audio is funny in general but specifically this video. I died the first time I watched it…and every time after 🤣
Life goals, honestly. I love seeing fat women take up space online and love themselves. I hope to see it trend!
This popped up on my feed the day after I read this part of RuPaul’s memoir the House of Hidden Meanings and I am 100% working on memorizing it so I can lip sync it and share to my own Reels feed
My favourite animal is weird people using this audio in professional settings. This one killed me!
So, what do you think? How are you using AI to expand your vision of yourself? Are you stepping into spaces where you can be truly seen? And more importantly, should I brave the karaoke mic next time?
